Vairavan Viswanathan, MD

Dr. Ramesh practices Internal Medicine, seeing adult patients for preventative medicine, screenings and general medical conditions and diseases. He believes that preventative care is the foundation for a good life, and that it begins with a strong relationship with a primary care physician. As a partner, he works with his patients to establish and understand risk factors for preventable and treatable diseases based on a patient’s condition, family history and lifestyle.

 

As part of Will County Medical Associates, Dr. Ramesh appreciates access to the advanced array of diagnostic and treatment options, available through the group. He believes that these advancements along with a strong patient/doctor relationship can benefit a person’s well-being and quality of life, because early detection and new treatments can substantially change the course of disease process.

 

Dr. Ramesh was inspired to practice medicine by his sister, who has polio. Watching her take on the challenges of everyday activities made him want to help others through medicine. After high school, he traveled to Madras, India to attend the Government Stanley Medical College. He then moved to Chicago for an internship at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center.

 

Taking to heart the role of primary care, Dr. Ramesh, gives importance to building a relationship with his patients. He spends time teaching them about their medical conditions, explaining tests, procedures and medication options. He enjoys his role as translator between the patient and specialists to help patients make the best choices for their individual situations.

 

Dr. Ramesh is married and has a son and daughter who keep him on his toes. He’s also an avid football and Nascar fan and participant in Fantasy Football.
