Sugni Sukhani, MD

It was in seventh-grade that Dr. Sukhani was inspired by the compassion of his family doctor, and knew he wanted to be a physician. That decision would lead him to obtain degrees from SMS Medical College at the University of Rajasthan in Jaipur, India. He completed a residency at the Sawai Mansingh Hospital of Jaipur before accepting a pediatric residency in Michigan at Pontiac General Hospital.

 

Dr. Sukhani enjoys practicing at Will County Medical Associates, having so many diagnostic resources without having to leave the building. This depth of service enhances his skill and enables him to practice state-of-the-art medicine. The ability to consult with other specialists that are part of the group, on particularly difficult cases is a unique benefit he is happy to have.

 

He is married to Radha, who is also a physician, practicing anesthesiology. Together, they have raised successful children who are on their own now.   In raising his own children, Dr. Sukhani developed a special empathy for the parents of his patients and the challenges that face parents. Now that his children have grown up, he has time to enjoy his grandchildren, tennis, golf and music. He is a talented performer of traditional Indian music.

 

Dr. Sukhani enjoys taking care of newborns, then watching them grow under his care, and then returning to him with children of their own. It gives him satisfaction to provide that continuity in their healthcare, and he deeply values the friendships and partnerships they establish over the years. He is among a handful of pediatricians that follow their patients into early adulthood, because of this strong bond with his patients.

 

Dr. Sukhani gets great satisfaction from providing a family with effective management of asthma, allergies and attention-deficit disorder. Dr. Sukhani says many of these conditions can affect the whole family. He is proud to help parents help their children manage these conditions and live life to their best potential. He loves to see a child’s life change for the better. He believes that parents giving their child love and instilling hope is critical to their healthy development.

 

In his practice, Dr. Sukhani stresses prevention to avoid serious illness and hospitalization. He is happy to discuss immunizations with parents of his patients. The importance of preventing the spread of infectious and deadly disease in children is critical to his method of practice.
