Mony Sarcu, MD

It was Dr. Sarcu’s love of biology, chemistry and applied math that took him down the path of medicine, much to his mother’s delight. He earned degrees from University of Illinois at Chicago and Loyola’s Stritch School of Medicine. His internship at Evanston Hospital/Northwestern Health System gave him the opportunity to do rounds with a well-respected Hematologist and spend much of his time on-call. The intense on-call schedule though was an opportunity to learn quickly because of the many admissions he made.

Dr. Sarcu enjoys treating conditions with “silent symptoms” that affect a person’s whole system, such as diabetes and hypertension. This gives him an opportunity to build a beneficial relationship with a patient, based on two-way communication. Together they can prevent serious complications. He also enjoys the day-to-day variety of people and ailments he sees and has the opportunity to treat, such as minor injuries and suturing.

Dr. Sarcu enjoys the fellowship of physicians here. He appreciates how they can support each other when necessary and the feel of an extended family. He has also been affiliated with the American College of Physicians, Illinois State Medical Society, Southern Medical Society, Chicago Medical Society and the American Medical Association.

When Dr. Sarcu is not keeping office hours, he is enjoying time with his wife supporting their four sons, most likely cheering them on at a hockey game. Aside from medicine, hockey is Dr. Sarcu’s other passion, followed closely by tennis and racquetball.
