Theodore Kanellakes, MD

Dr. Kanellakes specializes in managing allergies and asthma. His experience is put to good use helping patients live comfortably with allergies and asthma. They have taught him that listening well enables him to achieve the best outcome for them. In return, he treats young and old with wisdom and compassion, stressing prevention and good health habits in their lifestyles.

 

Dr. Kanellakes was often sick with respiratory infections as a child, so he can relate to how many of his patients feel. His godfather, a physician, treated him and inspired a devotion to medicine and caring for others. Dr. Kanellakes passion for medicine has also driven his involvement in many health care policy issues through positions at local,  state and national levels with medical societies.

 

Dr. Kanellakes completed his undergraduate studies at University of Wisconsin and attended medical school at Loyola University School of Medicine. He completed postgraduate training at St. Louis University Hospitals, in Internal Medicine, where he was also chief resident. He also was a clinical research fellow in allergy and immunology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Kanellakes is the recipient of numerous awards, including one of the top five finalists for Provena St. Joseph’s Medical Center Physician of the Year.

 

Dr. Kanellakes is married, and his wife is an active philanthropist. They have three adult sons and one granddaughter. He enjoys reading, travel and golfing in his spare time.
