Dr. Bechrakis is the son of a physician and has fond memories of watching his father help children. It was inspiring to Dr. Bechrakis even as a young child. It was then that he knew he would eventually pursue a career in medicine. Dr. Bechrakis obtained his advanced education in medicine at the University of Chicago, the University of Athens, Greece, and the Illinois Masonic Medical Center. It was during his residency at Illinois Masonic, that he was honored as best resident of pediatric medicine.
Dr. Bechrakis chose to practice with Will County Medical Associates, based on the extensive services offered by its multispecialty and diagnostic resources. At home, he and his wife, Alaina, are the proud parents of twins, George and Daphne. They keep him on his toes and very busy. He is amazed at how quickly his children grow, and it gives him great pleasure to watch them mature, and support them with the guidance to succeed as adults.
Dr. Bechrakis is an avid exercise enthusiast, but equally enjoys science fiction movies (Star Wars is his favorite) or a good book. He and his family enjoy the company of Buddie, their dog, as well.
Dr. Bechrakis relates well to children and encourages them to relax with him. He strives to make both the children and parents comfortable in the exam room. He enjoys counseling parents and children on prevention techniques that they can practice at home. Establishing healthy habits as a child, prepares their body for a healthy adulthood. He gets immense satisfaction from making sick children feel better. He has a special interest in helping families manage their child’s asthma and allergies. He knows there are so many opportunities for children with chronic respiratory disorders to live a healthy, comfortable life with the right management. He advises parents that a balance of unconditional love and discipline is the best foundation for their child to mature into a happy, centered adult.
Dr. Bechrakis is board-certified in pediatric medicine and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
